its not terrible for u, but it doesnt start labor. . . it just gives u the runs, i wouldnt recomend it. . . . and a 33 weeks and only 5 lbs thats too soon i wouldnt to want to start labor
your baby is not fully developed lungs and all until they are at least 38 weeks, delight in the last couple of weeks of pregnancy, the baby will come when it’s ready
I’ve only heard of people taking that to induce labor. I wouldn’t take it if I were you. If your baby is born with under developed lungs, as he likely would at 33 weeks, he would be at higher risk for SIDS. You don’t want to have to worry about that.
baby considered full term 36w+ its up to you its your baby. my son was born 8days b4 due date at 5lb 14. 9 oz he was perfectly fine. . . now Im not sure you want to take the castor oil before of the trots. . . . they suck trust me, diarrhea while having a baby ,uck— i did try it with my son but it didnt work, had him over week later. . . I know the stress and agony of getting the kid out, I am so ready
YES
Babies develop and grow till the moment they come out!
Castor Oil can also cause your baby to have a bowel movement, which is terrible because baby can aspirate it.
To help PREPARE for labor
Walk, do squats[also a excellent birth position], pelvic tilts.
Red raspberry leaf tones the uterus.
Castor Oil in never really excellent but. . . at 33 weeks I really would advise against it.
I took castor oil with both my girls. I was at least 38 weeks though. The first time it worked. . The second time it didn’t. I will not do it with this one.
You have a 50/50 chance of it working but please keep in mind it hurts like hell. Probably will cause hemorrhoids!
But PLEASE don’t take it at 33 weeks!! You are nor far enough along yet!
That is an ancient wise tale that says it will make you go into labor. You shouldnt try anything to make you go into labor at 33 weeks. By the way it will give you the runs. . . . lol. . . . I dont reckon you want that being preggers
Absolutely, and it will show up on drug tests, and you could get your baby taken away. Even though the baby is at 5 pounds, it’s lungs still aren’t ready to be born. The longer you wait to have it, the better it is on it’s survival. You reckon being pregnant is terrible, try standing for hours over a neonatal intensive care incubator, and hoping your baby survives, and wondering what long term effects it might have, just because you didn’t want to be pregnant anymore!
it is terrible for you and it can start labor. it doesn’t always work but most f the time it does.
It is very terrible for you and can cause horrible extremely painful contractions.
Do not do it. You can also endanger the life of your baby at this time. He/she is not ready to come out. Wait. For the sake of your baby.
Are you wanting to self induce? The weight of your baby means nothing. The lungs are immature at 33 weeks. Babies also have a hard time regulating their body temperature, maintaining blood sugar levels, and coordinating the suck-swallow-breathe mechanism in order to feed effectively.
You are foolish for even considering trying to self induce at this point. And castor oil? Why wouldn’t you question your doctor if it’s safe to attempt a self-induction with castor oil at 33 weeks and see what they have to say?
I cannot believe what impatience will drive women to reckon / do.
Taking castor oil can cause your baby to have a bowel movement inside you and if it does make you go into labor, your baby could breathe in the feces when it’s born and then would struggle with being pre-mature and having lung infections and respiratory problems.
At 33 weeks you should not be considering induction. Your baby is not full term (38-42 weeks), I know this is miserable. I am 37 and 1/2 weeks pregnant. But would you feel better if you had the baby early and there was something incorrect with it just because you wanted to feel more comfortable??
Babies know when it’s time to be born. Let your baby do it’s thing and he/she will come out when they’re excellent and ready. Your doctor will choose to intervene if they reckon the baby is too huge. Worst case scenario: you have a c-section. Better to have a small scar than to have a sick baby!
YES! You’re not ready to go into labour yet, trying to induce this far before your due date is stupid. You’re baby’s not ready to be born yet, it doesn’t matter if he/she’s over 5lbs, their lungs aren’t ready, they don’t have the sucking reflex yet.
Well first of all castor oil doesnt work for all woman. And 33 weeks is wayyy to early to try anything to get your baby to come. Just wait it out. . . . you dont have that long to go.
YES IT IS TERRIBLE FOR YOU, YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO TRY ANYTHING TO INDUCE YOUR LABOR UNTIL YOU ARE PAST 40 WEEKS. GIVING BIRTH RIGHT NOW AT 33 WEEKS, YOUR BABY’S LUNGS ARENT MATURE. . . YOUR BABY WOULD HAVE PROBLEMS IF YOU TRY AND INDUCE LABOR SO EARLY. . . PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS
As much as we want to use natural labor inducing remedies to start labor as soon as 38 pregnancy weeks are full, it is excellent to remember that babies have their own calendar. Some babies will come at 38 weeks, and other times will need 42 weeks before they are ready. Thus, you are not overdue, or “postdates” as used by medical standards, until 42 weeks.
Nowadays, it is more common to hear that you are “overdue” even if your due date was only yesterday! Your due date is only a very rough target date, that is why it is referred to as EDD — estimated due date.
But, if you are truly overdue and threatened by medical induction, Castor Oil is one of the natural labor inducing remedies that have been used for quite a long time. Many women, who gave birth twenty or thirty years ago and whose labor was induced with Castor Oil, are now passing the knowledge about this natural remedy to their daughters.
There are very few studies about using Castor Oil for inducing labor naturally. One study published in Alternative Therapies (January 2000) reported that 58% of the mothers who were given Castor Oil started labor in the specified period.
The theory behind this mechanism, in which Castor Oil induces labor, is that the remedy causes diarrhea cramps by irritating the smooth muscles of the intestine. This irritation is passed to the uterus, which is a smooth muscle, as well. Irritation of the uterus increases the prostaglandin level, resulting in contractions and labor.
Castor Oil starts the diarrhea two to six hours after drinking the oil. The contractions should start shortly after that. Some midwives and mothers swear on this method and have repeatedly used this to conclude an overdue pregnancy. Others feel it is not worth the discomfort.
After taking Castor Oil, the diarrhea is inevitable but it is usually over by the time you go into labor. One of the very possible side effects is that the severe diarrhea and cramping caused by Castor Oil could dehydrate you. This could be a serious problem, especially if you are delivering in a hospital where mothers are not allowed to drink fluids during labor. The mother’s dehydration may be associated with a higher risk of the baby passing meconium — his or her first stool — into the amniotic fluid. If the baby inhales meconium-stained fluid before or during the birth, it can cause severe illness for the baby.
Moreover, dehydration makes you tired and less able to endure physical activity. If you are suffering from dehydration, this means that your uterus is dehydrated as well. Dehydration aggravates the uterus, which in turn causes more pain for the mother. This might make you less able to handle natural childbirth, and puts you at increased risk for medical interventions.
Thus, if you induce labor with Castor Oil, you must remember the importance of keeping your body hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids.
It probably wont place you into labor, just give you diareah. But it IS VERY TERRIBLE if it does place you in labor! The doc ESTIMATES by ultrasound that your baby is 5 pounds, u/s can be off 2 pounds either way. And at 33 weeks, your babys lungs are not developed to live outside the womb without medical intervention. Please dont do anything to try and induce labor until at least your due date.
Be patient. Its best for you and your baby. Soon you will get to meet him/her.
My doc estimated my baby to be over 8 pounds at week 36. She came naturally 6 days past her due date and only weighed 7 lbs 2 oz.
if your taking it to induce labor than yeah. Your body wont go into labor unless its ready or if a doctor induces it. Youre not going to dialate yourself or soften your cervix with a laxative, no matter how hard you try unless your body is ready to go and chances are, at 33 weks its not. if you went to the hospital at 33 weeks in labor they would probably try and stop it, and they should because 33 weeks is still dangerously early dispite what your babys weight is. Its a lot more than weight that makes a healthy baby. . . like lung maturity, heart maturity. . . you know, things like that. Do you reckon to induce your own labor early because youre uncomfotable or something? i hope not. . thats terribly selfish. All of us are uncomfy. im sitting here and its 115 degrees outside and absoloutly miserable even with the air on full blast. but i dont feel the need to induce labor. . .
yes that can be harmfull for you,all it does is make you go into a early labor, just because your child is at 5pds dont mean anything,i went into a early labor due to health problems and my son weight 5pds13oz and he was 41/2 months premature, but he still didnt have his lungs and his heart was weak,if it was me i wouldnt take anything that is harmfull to me or my child, just be patient and delight in every bit of your preg. excellent luck
its not terrible for you but its terrible for the baby in the way that it could cause u to start labor and at 33 weeks ur not read and neither is ur baby if the baby is only 5 lbs too u need to wait a perfct baby is around 7 lbs. . . and u need to be at least 37 weeks to deliver a baby that has no complications to be healthy
yes its terrible. doesnt matter how much the baby weighs, your not considered full term until 37 weeks. my baby at 32 weeks weighed 6 lbs,. the lungs are still not developed yet. Dont induce your labor especially at 33 weeks. it will only harm your baby.
yes
its not terrible for u, but it doesnt start labor. . . it just gives u the runs, i wouldnt recomend it. . . . and a 33 weeks and only 5 lbs thats too soon i wouldnt to want to start labor
ive never understood why people use that?
